Whose Searching Whom in 2022?

Psalm 139

What are you searching for this new year? When the world wants to know something about the world, they don’t search it on the web. They Google it. That internet search engine is so large, it is synonymous with search. When you also take into account the browser on your computers and smart phones, Google has 93% of the “search” market. That is big, so much so, the government is suing the giant for being a monopoly i.e., nobody can get around it. You think Google is a monopoly, have your considered “God-gle?”

O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou know my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understand my thought afar off. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:1-2,23,24

When you want to know about yourself, there is no way of getting around God searching you. He’s 100% when you truly want to know thyself. Just ask the writer of Psalm 139. Let’s put your name in the Psalm 139 search engine and see what God knows about you when you’ve been “God-gled.”

· God knows what’s on your mind (v. 2): “Thou understand my thought from afar.” You can fool some of the people some of the time, but God knows your mind, motives and methods all the time.

· God knows where your feet have been (v.3): “Thou scrutinize my path and my lying down.” From the time you get up till the time you hit the bed, God knows where you have been. There are no secret rendezvouses. (That’s French for creeping.)

· God knows your mouth (v. 4): “Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, Thou dost know it all.” There is no “anonymous source, no off the record” with God. You spread it. God knows who dealt it. Watch what you say. God does.

· God knows your hiding place (v.11): “If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.” You can’t hide in your man-cave, she-shed, career, crib, bank or boo. God can find you and reveal you to you.

· God knows your value (v.14): “I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knows right well.” God doesn’t make junk. You are wonderfully made. Now, go live like it.

· God knows your presence (v.16): “Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was none.” Before you had a birth certificate, you were documented in His book. You have papers.

· God knows your purpose (v.17): “How precious also are Thy thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!” You are not an “oops”. God has given plenty thought about your calling. Go and do it.

· God knows your enemies, and His (18,19): “Surely, thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men. 20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.” Any enemy of His purpose for you is His enemy. He’s got your back. Do you have His?

· God knows your distractions and destiny (v.24): “See if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” God is able and willing to remove any self-imposed road blocks to your marvelous journey and destination this new year.

Google may be the way to search the web to know the world, but when you want to know yourself, let God “God-gle” you.
